welcome yule! or, NOBODY EXPECTED THE SPANISH INQUISITION

It's not the end of the year without celebrating yule! I've been going to the same one for, oh boy, maybe 15 years, now? And lately, with a friend, even. All down the centuries of the snow-white world, come people singing, dancing, to drive the dark away -
They took the darkness seriously, this time. Only getting 9 hours of sunlight a day isn't half so dark as anything that's happened politically through this year. Some might say their ardency made for a cheesy show, and you know what, that may be. Also, I love cheesy and sincere. We do need light, and we do need love, and we do need hope. There's no way for anything to get better, otherwise. So let's put the Lord of Misrule up on a throne and know what we're laughing at, and laugh together.

Not joking, though. This show's been trying to edge out of christianity for so long, but they finally put a menorah up on that stage. Jesus doesn't have the monopoly on winter. The old couple sitting behind us was so moved, they better bring it back next year.
