nevertheless, she persisted
Mar. 15th, 2019 08:04 pmSo, Dr Med Ethics passed yesterday.
I have a policy of making myself as anonymous as possible online, so I can't even go into her accomplishments here. She was a public figure who did incredible things for disability rights and medical ethics. I actually first heard about her years ago, before I imagined transferring here, when I read an article of hers. To take a class with someone I'd identified as a role model for years was stunning. I'm so honored I got to learn from her.
She survived so much. And she turned those experiences into fuel to keep on fighting, for decades longer than any doctor thought she could. And she held a torch high, and hundreds of students caught a light. Her memory will absolutely be a blessing.
Get your shots. Wash your hands. Stay healthy, look out for others around you, and remember everyone who came before us.
