One of the great things about studying philosophy is seeing how broad and influential certain patterns of thought have proven themselves to be. Early stoicism is absolutely reflected when held in concert with Buddhism, for example. I find this intensely endearing; that, through all the dusty ages, we as a species have gravitated towards moderation and good faith and recognition of both our facticities and abilities.
As such, I should be prepared to accept the decisions of the respected authority figures in my life and work. My supervisor is fair and I trust her to have the best interests of our office in mind, ergo I should be confident in her choices for us. As a student, though, I still certainly talk bigger than I can walk.
Which is all to say, that I didn't get promoted. And I'm bummed.
I'll swallow it, because frankly I've already got enough on my plate coming up without extra responsibilities and it'll be good for me to practice leadership before being the captain of our ship and I know she has everyone's best interests in mind so it's not a personal slight or anything, but for a minute, let me be bummed, here.
Also I forgot my wallet at home so I can't even get myself a consolation snack or something, and I already dug out my backpack change and dedicated it to coffee, because that's like breakfast right, when you've got a morning commute. Also my morning commute was diverted because the transfer station had a burst pipe, for goodness' sake, it was a mess. At least it didn't make me late, today has that going for it. But when I dug into my library account, it turns out 6 books I turned in at the end of last semester never entered the system properly and I don't even have energy to be big mad, but the folks are tracking them down in the retrieval system hopefully.
Aah, humbug.
