0denseso we had about three days of low traffic in the office and then today two very abrupt cases swept in. Guys, please, please oh please, read your contracts all the way through before signing anything. It's so much better to be a pendant than taken advantage of.
In better news, applications are coming in for our open position! I so hope that we can actually hire two people to share the title, but Supervisor has been making noises otherwise. Ah well, I'll keep my fingers crossed until she actually says no officially.
First batch of classes of the semester, though! lol, I came into this program expecting to be continental and study ethics with a dash of epistemology, and this semester is entirely flipped on that. One feminist ethics and a handful of ToKs, with a general emphasis in AI and cognitive processes. The professors are good and I'm looking forward to it, but I didn't quite expect to be here! Such are offerings and filling reqs.
Anyway, friday is payday and monday is off for labor day, so we're gonna get craazyyyy -
jk, I'm buying books tomorrow OTL. but maybe this weekend I'll also make petit fours? I made a batch of plum jam earlier, it might be good with some marzipan?? we'll see!
picked up a book at 1/2 price tho - I read The Fantastic Laboratory of Dr Weigl a few years ago and remember enjoying it, so hopefully my memory will serve true. Nonfiction, epidemiology and history, elevator pitch: occupied Lwow, a lab uses its cover as a typhus research center to shelter Jewish people and undermine Buchenwald.
Unfortunately, I'm looking at a few wips and my new schedule and realising I probably won't have time to finish all of them. Sad Thing and Toptunov Thing are my pet projects, but Thing Including Tarakanov is pretty stalled out. idk, should I post it here for curiosity's sake? if someone wanted to pick up where I've left off, I'd be super down to talk about that. It's about 2.5k so far plus a handful of citations; Tarakanov weighing in on the dynamic that's developed at the site, Boris pov.
