another week's worth of hours in three days! hahaha death! but also, hosted our first event in a while, on reproductive justice :D We worked with another nonprofit so they brought a doctor to speak and we gave a recap on the situation with the supreme court. I'm very proud of us and have a lot of ideas on how to streamline our next event, which, we have two coming up in the same week soon... It'll be cool though, and also one of them's a great opportunity because we wanted to do a similar topic but TPTB decided we should consult with another committee on it so we're held to a different timeline, but since this is a pared-down version, we get to run with it!
Also a coworker from another department thought I was like 20 again, which hasn't happened in a while but what can I say, the asian baby face powers are real! I am practically halfway through being 26 tho X_D

Anyway, I am fully clinging to positivity with both hands and like, even my teeth. There is a yawning black pit of This Year and I am beating it off with a stick. 💪
So, to that end, sister and I took the best walk today! It got somewhere up to the high 80s and we dropped off a few handfuls of books at the free libraries and got some pastries to eat in the park and wandered up through the hills. Turned out the path to the park had a whole CSI team in the way tho so we just took the long way back home and gleaned a bunch of passionfruit and a few grapes and some rosemary that someone had trimmed and left out in bundles on the way. And a friend dropped off some of her pomegranates and I'm already having to pick some of the persimmons because the branches are so heavy and they can blet on the counters :D I'm also on the fence about persimmon leaf tea this year; the smoke was truly disgusting but also washing is part of the prep anyway. But I'm def gonna take a go making jam with the passionfruit skins this time!
The point is, though, that it's so important to be a part of the turn of the year. It was like we blinked and lost spring, under curfew, but the world is still real around us, and every reminder is a bulwark against losing my mind in the torrential downpour of bullshit that is anthropocene 2020. It's equinox, mid-autumn is coming up so quickly. If this year's mooncakes come from sheng kee, so be it - we'll still have the celebration! (though if you can get there, eastern bakery in the city is absolutely the best on either side of the bay <3)
