election evening notes
Nov. 3rd, 2020 06:07 pm6pm: I'm all over the place. in a weird way, I'm relieved to be listening to the numbers start coming in, because it's something real in an outrageous year. Today I had two classes, and it was extremely surreal to be talking about readings and paper drafts like any other day, while we were standing at the precipice. Now we're starting the plunge.
banal liveblogging under the cut - my memory gets terrible when I'm stressed enough, so I'm extending my mind a bit.
6:15: lol so the analysis program my campus is hosting was slated to be over at 5:45 but the panel is going strong and there're a few hundred of us hanging on zoom. I know a lot of folks are unplugging tonight but I'm just glad to understand tonight as best I can.
6:32: anyway I have typesetting to play with and we got nice takeout earlier and the passionfruit mousse I tried to make didn't set quite properly but it's still tasty, so I can breathe, because Texas is only 0.01% red on projection, holy cats, and NM went blue!!! and fox polled for biden, holy shit
6:49:

NM no pressure but jesus please
6:55: 2016 I spent with a good friend at one of the bars downtown bc they had all the TVs and it just got so quiet you could hear a guy drop his baggie of coke. Not literally that quiet bc the TVs but yes the coke. walking home, strangers were all hugging crying in the streets, just trying to make it not be true.thank actual God we've got our squad zoom all set up for tuesday nights already, so glad not to be doing this alone.
7:06: hjghjghj one of the moderators is digressing about how he adopted his cat. and it's another moderator's daughter's birthday, happy birthday her! this is the content I look for. turning off for now bc I can't make the audio cooperate quite how I want, but I'm really glad they're running this.
7:31: making lemon popyseed cake. whatever happens, at least we'll have something sweet at the end of it
7:32: HOLY SHIT ARIZONA'S PREDICTING BLUE. GOOD ON YOU ARIZONA HELL YEAH. 8.7% up and with 73% in!!!
7:57: was gonna do a marbling glaze but my gel doesn't want to be the right shade :( so plain it is. Texas is a smaller gap, but still redish. Starting to second-guess watching along, bc this is a lot of anxiety I can't actually do anything about, but I'm in it now. sunk cost ftw!
8:15: hjkjhghjkhghjk CA's only 4% in so whatever but also we're at >70%. texas you're breaking my heart, arizona we're counting on you. we're all pinging our other friends too to see if they wanna all zoom together, no one should be alone on a night like this.
8:30: wouldn't it be cool if mark kelly gets it though?? and cakes are out! gotta cool before glazing, buuut I think we only really need to glaze one ;)
8:34: what's taking arizona so long though. also, fuck the two independent senate seats.
9:18: I know it's gonna take a while for them to count all the early ballots, but considering that it sounds like more mail-ins were democrat I'm clinging to a bit of hope. just need 47 more electoral seats.
9:21: rats, we're just under enough people for among us
10:31: actually did find folks for among us :) objectively a better choice. the ongoing quest to make the venn diagrams of my friends a circle!
10:32: jeesus texas and florida and utah and montana and a bunch reported in red. nevada's actually hinting blue??
10:36 AYYYY PROP 16 PASSED! FUCKING PROUD OF US. how's 22 come on. fucking state of jefferson though.
12:03: and I check the news again and he's really starting it. time for bed. it's gonna be a long week, it's gonna be a long, long month.
I just want to live, you know? I just want us to live.

And I don't know why we ride on the flame
'Cause sometimes we're riding blind
All I know is the future is waiting
Out there for us to find
